The band split up about 9 years ago, but still plays every once and a while, this past March the band was captured live at the Bierstube in Moline, IL. The music, the energy and the love will burst through your speakers into your ears.
The Toast was formed in 1990 by Matt Friesz(guitar/lead vocals), Kevin Moore(percusion), Rodney Shaw(bass) and Kevin Body(lead guitar). The band has went through many changes throughout the years, and with each change came a little different flavor. Kevin Body left the band in it's early stages and Lonnie Schutz joined up. After Lonnie left the band started courting Pat Willis(guitar) who was the frontman singer song writer for a few different Iowa city bands(Tropical Punch, Captain Barney and Dagobah). Well... he finally came over and it was just what the doctor had ordered. Kevin Moore left the band in 1996 and a gentleman by the name of Steve Morris(percusion) filled in for a while and then came Erik wilson(percusion) a perfect fit to the Toast. In 1997 I (Matt) had a run in with God and had to quit the band for a while. The band took about a three year break, then got back together and have played one or two shows a year since. Hopefully we'll be jammin until we can't breathe anymore. At the moment Matt is living in Oldsmar Florida, Rodney is in East Moline IL and Pat and Erik are living in Rock Island IL. Pat and Erik have put together the new band PATIO, they are one of the most funkalicious grove bands around, and I'm not just saying that because there my buds.
